If you have been keeping up with Korean dramas and movies, you might find Go Min-si a familiar face. She has had supporting roles in Love Alarm and Sweet Home, and went on to wow everyone with her performance in Youth of May.

More recently, she took on the role of a mysterious woman in the Netflix original series, The Frog. Her performance was noteworthy, and she recently revealed that a scene that went viral was improvised by her while filming. We stan a talented actress!

Sartorial-wise, the 29-year-old doesn’t disappoint, proving her versatility as she effortlessly straddles elegance and casual. Here are the top tips we’re stealing from her.

1. Skirt over shorts is the new dress over pants

If you love the dress-over-pants trend as much as we do, you’d be all over this look, too. Min-si paired shorts with a lace skirt for this Dior fit and boy, did she look like a million bucks. If you prefer a girlier look, go for delicate laces like Chantilly lace. Alternatively, swap the shorts for denim shorts for a more casual finish.

2. Dainty bags aren’t just for girly fits

Think those dainty handbags in your wardrobe are made to go only with dresses? Think again. Get more mileage out of your bag by pairing it with alternative styles, like a baggy, boyish outfit. A contrasting pop of colour also adds a little zing to your get-up.

3. Contrast monochromes with a bright colour

A top-to-toe black outfit adds to that dark feminine energy vibe, but a touch of colour, whether pink, yellow or even neon, won’t put a dampener on your look. We love how Min Si complemented hers with a baby pink bag, elevating her outfit with just one focal point.

4. A belt can be just an accessory

Another Y2K trend of the season that Min-si is rocking tastefully: The unnecessary belt. Min Si wore hers skinny and almost loosely buckled for a nonchalant vibe, focusing on form over functionality. And honestly, it is a look we want to emulate.

5. Monochrome is not only for black or white

Min-si had another monochrome moment with this outfit. This time round, she went for an all-pink palette. Interestingly, she matched the scarf on her bag to her dress, instead of opting for a contrasting colour. This is a great way to make your statement bag the pièce de résistance of your fit.

6. Oversized and flared make a great match

Millennials have been conditioned to pair oversized pieces with form-fitting ones. For example, hoodies with leggings, or a tight tee with A-line skirts. Min-si proves that an oversized hoodie and an A-line skirt actually make for a great combination! With this in mind, don’t be afraid to wear that hoodie and cargo pants out together.

7. Make your work pants work harder

Your corporate fit doesn’t have to be just for the office. You can make your tailored pants work overtime by wearing them with casual tops. Min-si wore hers with a cropped zip jumper, channelling off-duty corporate girly vibes. They’re endlessly versatile too — dress them up with heels and a shirt for that business meeting, then swap them out for a casual top and sneakers for a laid-back but put-together appeal.

8. A backpack can be a statement piece

A backpack is often a bag that is overlooked, or dismissed as boring. But choosing the right design can help elevate or transform your look. For example, while Min Si’s outfit exudes baddie vibes, the white backpack tones it down a little. Plus, the ruched details lend a touch of girliness.

9. It’s all in the details

Want to show a bit of skin, but don’t want to go overboard? Go for tops with cutout details, like the one Min-si donned. If you’re a little shy and want to take people’s attention away from the sliver of skin, opt for a statement bag that can serve as a great distraction.

10. Coquette can look mature

Everyone, even us in our 30s, is obsessed with the coquette trend that is all over social media. While you might be more familiar with pairing those beribboned, lacey or linen tops with white tiered skirts, you can make it look less “blast from the past” by swapping the tiered skirt for a different skirt. Min-si also wore hers with an overshirt, which is perfect if your office frowns upon spaghetti tops.
