We all know what Singapore’s searing weather does to our makeup. All it takes is a few hours in the sun and our makeup starts to slip and slide and our dewy complexion starts looking oily instead. Apart from the climate, oxidation can also change the way our makeup looks as the day goes by. So when it comes to looking on point after long days, it’s all about the touch-ups. Rather than just piling on products that could cause your makeup to look cakey, freshen up your makeup with these simple tips.
If you have dry skin, a facial mist is a touch-up tool you need to have in your beauty arsenal because it can be sprayed over your makeup. As your skin temperature rises, sebum production increases. When your skin is in need of a pick-me-up, whip out a hydrating mist or setting spray and lightly spritz all over your face to hydrate your skin. The refreshing spray will also give you a great energy boost (minus the caffeine jitters) to take on the rest of the day.

Before applying any additional products, grab a tissue paper or blotting paper and dab lightly on parts of your face that are oilier like your T-zone to sop up sweat and oil in a bind and keep the unwanted shine at bay. Follow up with a sheer pressed powder that helps to control sebum production on the surface of the skin. If you have dry skin, you can skip this step.

When it comes to touching up your makeup, skip anything that requires a brush or heavy duty blending. Opt for a cream concealer to erase blemishes, dark eye circles and smudged eye makeup. For a natural-looking flush, use a cream blush with a straight-to-cheek application. If you don’t have a blush with you, dab some lip tint or lipstick onto the apples of your cheeks and blend out the colour with your fingertips.

A bold bright lip makeup will instantly make a statement and brighten a dull complexion. Remove all your lipstick with a makeup wipe so you can start over and apply a thin layer of lip balm so you have a smooth canvas to work with. If your lips are dry and chapped after a long day, go with a hydrating tinted lip balm instead of something with a matte finish that could settle in fine lines on the lips.
