Clean, organic, vegan and even gluten-free beauty offerings are increasingly common these days, but what about certified Halal beauty brands that are suitable for Muslim women?

To be Halal certified, products have to be free of alcohol, a very common ingredient used in skincare and cosmetics. Formulations also have to avoid ingredients derived from animals such as pigs and dogs, which are "haram" or forbidden in Islamic law.

Besides adhering to ingredient restrictions, Halal-friendly beauty products have to be manufactured with equipment and materials that comply with Islamic laws. With so many guidelines to follow, certified Halal beauty brands aren't that common on the market, for now. But not to worry: here are seven brands you should check out.
