The year is coming to an end, and if you’ve been postponing your well-deserved vacation because 1) you’ve burst your monthly budget, 2) exhausted all your leave dates, or 3) you can’t bear to fork out the extra cash to pay for last minute plane tickets, then next year might be your year to travel.

In a recent report by Skyscanner, Cyndi Hui, Skyscanner Travel Trends and Destination Expert shares, “In 2025, Singapore travellers look forward to embarking on new journeys, with 53% indicating the desire to travel more in the coming year.”

Of course, when it comes to travel, there are many factors that you have to consider. But one main consideration would have to be the price. Cyndi Hui says, “Costs remain top of mind. More than half of Singapore travellers we surveyed plan to spend the same or more on travel next year, while those planning to travel less cite cost as their main consideration.”

That being said, with the increase in travel prices for the year ahead, it’s imperative that you carefully sieve through the different options available for your next vacation. But that’s not to say that all destinations are seeing a spike in prices. Places like Okinawa, Japan and Wellington, New Zealond, are actually seeing cheaper fares for these destinations due to a combination of a couple of factors: the launching of new routes which are opening up these destinations for the first time and/or a higher frequency of low-cost carrier flights.
