Blackpink Jennie caught our attention when she traded in her signature brunette tresses for platinum blonde strands at the Chanel show in Paris Fashion Week earlier this month. Little did we know that this was only the start of the global pop star’s gold hair era. In her “Mantra” music video which came out on Thursday (10 October), Jennie flaunted multiple new hair and makeup styles that are a departure from her usual ingénue look.
In honour of the release of her new track, which acts as the teaser for her upcoming debut album, RUBYRED, we’ve compiled some of our favourite beauty looks from the “Mantra” music video (as the lyric “It’s not that deep, we’re not that dumb” continues to live rent-free in our heads).
Jennie is the “Typa Girl” that can look sweet and demure or cool and edgy with a simple hairstyle switch-up. Teamed with poker straight, waist grazing strands, her jet black heavy fringe perfectly complements her features and barely-there makeup.
This rosy display is reminiscent of a succulent, juicy cherry. Jennie was lookin’ good enough to eat with her dewy, luminous complexion and peachy-pink inner corner highlight on her lids. To accompany her eyeshadow, she also painted her eyebrows in a sherbet-like orange shade. Her rose gold wavy hair is just the cherry on top (had to).
A little bit country and a whole lot of rock ‘n roll. Jennie glowed like the sun as she rode the cowgirlcore trend. She paired her western garb and rodeo-approved accessories with a generous application of blush on her lids and under eyes. For lips, follow the Blackpink member’s lead and opt for a matte, apricot hue.
The scene-stealer of this look may have been her bodacious, tight ringlets, but her ombre pout falls not too far behind.
As the Blackpink singer prances to the beat of her empowering anthem, through the streets of L.A., her blonde strands blow in the breeze, giving us proof that she can pull off any hair colour.
The “Idol” actress is that stunna. While she experimented with various hair and makeup in this music video, a Jennie music video just wouldn’t be quite the same without her trademark glowing complexion and longer lashes on the outer corner of the peepers.
